Health writing is easy to fake and hard to verify, so the process behind Erection is written down where readers can hold us to it. Everything below applies to every page, including the ones nobody reads.
Four principles
Accuracy outranks completeness. A page covering six points correctly beats one covering ten with three wrong, and where the evidence does not support a clean answer we say the evidence is weak instead of manufacturing confidence.
Independence outranks revenue. The site sells nothing, and that is a structural decision rather than a temporary one: a page recommending a treatment cannot also be a sales channel for it.
Transparency outranks polish. Sources are named inside the text, revision dates sit at the top of each page, and corrections are logged instead of being quietly patched over.
Currency outranks volume. Guideline statements and regulatory facts go stale in a way physiology does not, so we maintain a small set of pages properly instead of accumulating a large set nobody revisits.
The publishing process
Choosing what to cover
A topic gets commissioned when three things line up: readers are demonstrably searching for it, a primary source can answer it, and the available English material is either wrong or attached to a checkout page. Questions that fail the second test are dropped instead of filled in with plausible-sounding speculation.
Research and sourcing
Research starts at the primary document. For clinical statements that means guideline text from the American Urological Association, patient material from NIDDK, and peer-reviewed reviews on the NCBI Bookshelf and in StatPearls. For regulatory statements it means the FDA directly, including its notifications on adulterated products. For epidemiology it means the study that produced the figure, so that the sample size and the population it was drawn from travel with the number.
Secondary sources help us find primary ones and never serve as the citation of record. A claim that exists only in a ring of websites citing each other is treated as folklore and either dropped or marked as unsupported. The hard erection foods genre is the clearest example: enormous search volume, no trial evidence, so the page says so.
Drafting
Whoever read the sources for a section writes it, which keeps the person making the claim and the person who read the document as the same person. House style is plain declarative English. Anatomical and pharmacological terms appear with an explanation on first use, since a reader who does not know what the tunica albuginea does cannot follow an argument that depends on it.
Fact-checking
A second person checks the draft against the sources before it goes live. Percentages, sample sizes, confidence intervals, approval status and dosing statements are verified individually against the original document instead of against the draft's own citation. Where a guideline grades its own evidence, that grade goes into the text, because an A-grade recommendation and a C-grade one should not read identically.
Claims that cannot be verified are removed at this stage rather than softened with a hedge. A sentence that opens by implying general agreement is usually a sentence with nothing behind it, and those get cut.
Publication and review
Pages carry the date of their last substantive revision at the top. Clinical and regulatory material is reviewed at least every six months and immediately when a guideline is updated or an approval changes. Physiology is reviewed annually, since it moves slowly, and whenever a reader sends a source that contradicts it.
Evidence quality varies by topic, and pages say so where it does. Sleep-laboratory counts behind the morning erection figures come from small cohorts recorded decades apart. Pooled measurement data on how long should an erection last rests on samples that shrink sharply for the erect rows. Trials behind the vacuum erection device run to dozens of participants, not thousands. A salon estimate quoted on public erection is labelled a business observation instead of data, and the corrected nerve count on female erection is flagged as conservative by the surgeons who published it.
What this site is not
No page here is medical advice, and no page can substitute for an examination. We describe mechanisms, evidence and treatment categories; a clinician who can measure your blood pressure, read your medication list and order a testosterone panel is doing something we cannot do from a text file.
We publish no dosing instructions, no purchasing advice and no route to obtaining prescription medication. The drugs involved interact dangerously with nitrates, and the men most likely to want them quickly are the men most likely to be carrying a nitrate already.
Editorial independence
There is nothing to separate editorial from, because the site has no commercial side. We accept no sponsored posts, no paid placements, no guest articles carrying links, and no payment for a mention, all of which arrive in the inbox regularly. Our disclosure page states the position in full.
Accurate material stays even when a company dislikes it. Where a page describes an entire product category as unreliable, the description holds, and a request to soften it gets the same answer every time.
Corrections
Errors get fixed instead of defended. Useful reports name the page, quote the passage and say what the correct position is, ideally with a source. We check the claim against primary documents within forty-eight hours and reply either with the correction or with the document supporting the original wording.
Substantive corrections are marked on the page with a date and a short note describing what moved, so a reader who saw the earlier version can tell. Typographical fixes are silent. Pages are not deleted to make an error disappear.
Rules for contributors
Contributors work from primary sources and cite them in the draft, including section or page numbers where the document is long. Anyone with a financial interest in a company, clinic or product mentioned in a draft declares it before starting and is reassigned when the conflict is material.
Generative tools may assist with structure and language checks, never as the source of a factual claim, and every sentence that survives to publication has been verified by a person against a document. Drafts assembled from other websites are rejected.
